    Have compassion for all beings, rich and poor alike; each has their suffering. Some suffer too much, others too little.”

    Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at somone else; you are the one who gets burned.

    You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.

I forgive people. It doesn’t mean I accept their behavior or trust them. It means I forgive them for me, so I can let go and move on with my life.

  1. Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.

    Talk to mother lovingly.

    Talk to vendors strictly.
    Talk to customers honestly.
    Talk to workers courteously.
    Talk to politicians carefully.
  100. Respect the old when you are young. Help the weak when you are strong. Confess the fault when you are wrong. Because one day in life you will be old, weak, and wrong.

  145. Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

    Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

  146. If you truly loved yourself, you could never hurt another.
  147. Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.
  148. To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.
  149. Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
  150. With fools, there is no companionship. Rather than to live with men who are selfish, vain, quarrelsome, and obstinate, let a man walk alone.
  151. You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.
  152. There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.

  175. There is nothing so disobedient as an undisciplined mind, and there is nothing so obedient as a disciplined mind.
  176. Nothing can harm you as much as your own thoughts unguarded.

  178. Remembering a wrong is like carrying a burden on the mind.

  199. If we destroy something around us we destroy ourselves. If we cheat another, we cheat ourselves.

  201. My doctrine is not a doctrine but just a vision. I have not given you any set of rules, I have not given you a system.
  202. What you think you create, what you feel you attract, what you imagine you become.
  203. There is no need for God! If you want to meditate you can meditate without God. Buddha meditated without God; he had no belief in God.
  204. Nothing ever exists entirely alone; everything is in relation to everything else.
  205. In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.
  206. Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.
  207. It is better to travel well than to arrive.
  208. It is a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.
  209. Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are. It solely relies on what you think.
  210. Remember to take care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
  211. If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.
  212. Rule your mind or it will rule you.
  213. Those who have failed to work toward the truth have missed the purpose of living.
  214. You cannot travel the path until you have become the path itself.
  215. The only real failure in life is not to be true to the best one knows.
  216. If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.
  217. When words are both true and kind they can change the world.
  218. It is ridiculous to think that somebody else can make you happy or unhappy.
  219. A disciplined mind brings happiness.
  220. People with opinions just go around bothering one another.
  221. Every experience, no matter how bad it seems, holds within it a blessing of some kind. The goal is to find it.
  222. Learn this from water: loud splashes the brook but the oceans depth is calm.
  223. The trouble is, you think you have time.
  224. Avoid evil deeds as a man who loves life avoids poison.

  226. For soon the body is discarded, then what does it feel? A useless log of wood, it lies on the ground, then what does it know? Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own thoughts, unguarded. But once mastered, no one can help you as much, Not even your father or your mother.
  227. Everything that has a beginning has an ending. Make your peace with that and all will be well.
